Mohamed Shaaban (M’04–SM’13) received the B.Sc. (honors) and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Suez Canal University, Ismailia, Egypt, in 1990 and 1996, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Hong Kong, Pok Fu Lam, Hong Kong, in 1990.,From 2005 to 2006, he was at Qassim University, Buraidah, Saudi Arabia. In 2007, he was a Visiting Faculty Member at Washington State University, Pullman, WA, USA. In 2009, he was at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, U.K. From 2010 to 2016, he was at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johor Bahru, Malaysia. He is currently an Associate Professor with Port Said University, Port Fouad, Egypt. His current research interests include power system operation, optimization, risk analysis, renewable energy integration, and smart grids.,Dr. Shaaban is a Chartered Engineer in the U.K.
